1980 - Venice Declaration

The Venice Declaration was produced by the nine member-states of the European Community in June 1980 to articulate the basic EC position on peace negotiations. It calls for recognition of Israel's right to exist within secure borders, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination. It also states that the nine EC states are "prepared to participate within the framework of a comprehensive settlement."

  1. 1. The so called "Palestinian People" were invented by the Soviet dezinformatsia in 1964 when the PLO Charter was drafted in Moscow. See: Brand, "Soviet Russia, the Creator of the PLO and the Palestinian People" http://www.thinkisrael.org/brand.russiatheenemy.html According to Zahir Muhsein, a member of the executive board of the PLO, no such people exist and use of the term is a political ploy. http://www.danielpipes.org/comments/18157

2.The passion for self government by the alleged Palestinian people also has no basis in fact. Brand, Was there a Palestinian Arab National Movement at the end of the Ottoman Period? http://www.think-israel.org/brand.palnationalism.html

    3. The exclusive political rights to Palestine were recognised as belonging to the Jews in 1920 at San Remo Part 1: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.11aspx/11408
    Part 2: http://israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.11aspx/11412

The Venice Declaration of 1980 is therefore inconsistent with the earlier declaration in 1920, confirmed by the League of Nations in 1922 and preserved in Article 80 of the UN Charter.
