(Israelnationalnews.com) MK Michael Ben-Ari says that the U.S. must not have a “double standard” and must investigate its own WikiLeaks-exposed war crimes in Iraq.
Dr. Ben-Ari, a freshman Knesset Member of the National Union party, has filed an official complaint with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, asking that it, too, investigate the war crime suspicions.
“The world was recently shocked by the revelations of the reports regarding war crimes in Iraq,” Ben-Ari wrote. “The hair-raising stories paint a wretched and frightening picture of the American administration’s functioning regarding human rights and honoring international charters, including shooting innocent civilians, rape and cruelty towards prisoners.”
Ben-Ari explained that his complaint to the UN is actually a response to American “two-faced, hypocritical double standards” vis-à-vis its approach to Israel. “Every time Israel kills a terrorist or takes an action in self-defense,” Ben-Ari said, “the Americans demand explanations and often condemn Israel. They count our checkpoints, which are designed to save lives… If they demand civil rights for Palestinian terrorists, there is no reason why we must not demand civil rights for the poor Iraqi population.”
