ADL’s Foxman: Farrakhan Speech Dripping with Anti-Semitism

Stop the presses! The 78-year-old retired calypso singer and Nation of Islam leader accused Jews of controlling the government, the media, and finance and entertainment, and “repeated many of the past anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that have made him one of the nation’s foremost promoters of anti-Semitism to a legion of followers.” So says the Anti Defamation League press release following Minister Louis Farrakhan’s Sunday three-hour speech before his followers.
Give Farrakhan some credit for consistency. It’s not easy, holding an audience captive when all you’ve got are a bunch of age-old racist lies and a religion invented by some truly strange early-20th century folks.
Except this time around the master of racial hatred added a new gem to the collection: he warned that racial hatred would lead to attempts to assassinate President Barack Obama.
The Chicago Tribune said Farrakhan spent much of his speech decrying what he said was Satan’s influence over racist forces in politics and society, and then asking: “Do you think they’re wicked enough to be plotting our brother’s assassination as we speak?”
Who knows. Meanwhile, his speech was disturbing enough to elicit a reaction from Anti Defamation League National Director Abraham H. Foxman: “Farrakhan’s annual address to the Nation of Islam was dripping with anti-Semitism and hatred and should stand as a textbook example of the continuing potency in some circles of anti-Semitism in America.”
At one point, Farrakhan repeated the canard that the US is doing the bidding of the Jews in the Middle east. “I advise white and black America, Hispanic and Asian America, why would you send your children to die in a war engineered by Zionists who love Israel more than they love the United States of America… Don’t send these children to war for the sake of Israel.”
And there was this brilliant gem, which is a bit difficult to follow logically, and perhaps not entirely worth the effort: “Did you know that Israel provoked the war in the Sudan? For 20 years or more, the Sudan was in the civil war and it started because Israel wanted to create a war in southern and northern Sudan to divert Egypt to come to the defense of the Sudan to take pressure away from Egypt attacking Israel.”
Read it a couple of times and see if it makes any more sense. We gave up.
Foxman did, too, apparently, since he expressed his surprise that “rather than laugh him off the stage, tens of thousands of supporters cheered him on and encouraged his anti-Semitism and bigotry.”
“I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m just telling the truth,” Farrakhan said at the end of a diatribe on how the Jews were responsible for that great New Yorker cover with Obama and wife giving each other the “terrorist bump.”
Everybody’s a critic..

Republicans Challenging Obama on Jewish Vote in 2012

JointMedia News Service has been syndicating an intriguing article headlined – Which Republican candidate has the Jewish vote? It might take the reader a while to realize that writers Masha Rifkin and Jacob Kamaras, or their editor, are accepting as fact the possibility that Jewish voters will be in play on the Republican side of the presidential campaign this year. This is a watershed moment – not since 1980, when Reagan trounced Carter — have so many Jews been prepared to support a Republican against a sitting Democratic President.
And, as it turns out, all the Republicans who are still standing are moving in on the Jewish vote, save for Ron Paul who just doesn’t seem to care about the need to court Jews on the path to the White House.
The Jews, for a variety of reasons, appreciate being courted.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich have all gone on record with heated pro-Israel declarations, which could make picking one of them harder than you think.

MK Ben-Ari: Outgoing Court Chief Beinisch Destroyed Public Trust in the Justice System

MK Michael Be-Ari (National Union) certainly makes the top five list of Knesset straight shooters, which is why he did not hesitate Tuesday to crash the wall of politeness set up by the powers that be on the day Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch left office.
Ben-Ari told Kippa that he was delighted Beinisch was leaving, after five and a half years, because she “destroyed public trust in the justice system. Under her gavel, the court became the possession of Balad [The left-wing, Arab-dominated 'Democratic National Alliance' that has 3 seats in the Knesset].”
According to Ben-Ari, Beinisch “instituted discriminatory and racist policies against Jews. Illegal construction by Arabs are kosher, but when Jews built a hut in an outpost,  Beinisch got up in the middle of the night in her pajamas to order its destruction.”
“We will not forget nor forgive Beinisch and her fellow justices their abuse of the uprooted settlers of Gush Katif. Amazingly, the same judges who freed rapists, drug dealers, and Arab rioters, saying that detention must only be used in exceptional cases, had no problem throwing into prisons for long terms boys and girls without criminal records, whose only sin was that they protested against the deportation.”
Ben-Ari’s colleague at the National Union faction MK Ya’akov (Ketzale) Katz also expressed joy at Beinisch’s retirement. He accused Beinisch of appropriating an authority she did not rightfully possess, taking liberties with the management of the state, revoking key legislation, and taking the law into her own hands.
“Who gave her permission?” Katz asked at the Jerusalem Conference Tuesday. “She was never elected; the High Court is not allowed to annul laws enacted by the representatives of the people.”

Moshe Feiglin: Transition IDF to a Professional Volunteer Army

I was invited for an hour of relaxed, weekend conversation on the Nechama Duek Show on Radio Tel Aviv. At the beginning of the broadcast, Duek interviewed the “suckers” in the protest tent. These are the reserve soldiers, the self-proclaimed “pushovers,” unhappy with their reserve duty while many ultra-Orthodox men do not serve in the army. The anonymous sucker repeats the hackneyed mantras against the haredim, draft evasion, et al. It reminds me of a tasteless piece of gum that has been chewed here in Israel for 60 years; every so often somebody decides to blow a bubble and pop it. “Here we go again,” I say to myself. “The next hate-fest is upon us.”
I wonder who planned and funded this performance. Probably the same people who produced the haredi bus scandal, and before that the mosque burning scandal. After all, how would we possibly survive here without our monthly hate-fest?
The sucker keeps talking and Duek emotionally calls for all Tel Avivians to join with the suckers – now. She then turns to me and asks, “What is your opinion?” I take advantage of the opportunity to praise the settlers in Judea and Samaria, reminding the listeners that, among other facts, the settlers boast the highest percentage of enlistment. “Yes, but what about the haredim?” Duek asks. I then explain the solution. “A terrible idea!” Duek counters, and goes on to the next topic.
I will preface my proposed solution by saying that I always tell my children that when they turn on the radio to hear the news, they must first understand that they are actually hearing what the person who wrote the news thinks is the news and that what he decides will be on the national agenda.
Two days later, at 7 a.m., I turned on Channel 2 radio to Aryeh Golan. What is on the news? Yes, it’s the “pushovers.” The picture is clear: big money (probably from Europe), cynical strategists, tents, news editors, the High Court – and some pushovers for good measure.

Israel: The ‘Apartheid State’ That Palestinians Keep Struggling To Enter

Prominent PLO spokeswoman Hanan Ashrawi is demanding that the international community declare Israel an “Apartheid State.” Her demand was included in a statement she published in Ramallah this week, accusing Israel of incitement against Arabs and of violating international laws. How come she never mentions the incitement of Palestinians against Israelis in the Palestinian government-issued textbooks, or in the schools and summer camps named after terrorists, or in the government-controlled TV stations which just last week again glorified terrorists with video celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine [a group that over the years has killed dozens of Israelis, including many children]?
How come Ashrawi never mentions that in Saudi Arabia there is not only gender apartheid — in which women have virtually no rights and are kept as virtual prisoners, unable to travel without the permission of a male guardian or relative, even if he is a child or developmentally disabled or mentally handicapped — but also that there are separate roads marked for Muslims to drive on and for non-Muslims to drive on? One is not even allowed to bring a Bible into the country. How come those acts do not register as “Apartheid”?

MK Uri Ariel Unveils His ‘One State’ Plan

National Union MK Uri Ariel’s speech during the Jerusalem Conference this week turned a few heads. Ariel unveiled his political alternative to the peace process, calling on Israel to annex 100% of Judea and Samaria. He said that under his plan all residents, Jews and Arabs, could be granted full citizenship.
Ariel said five Israeli Prime Ministers have tried to pursue a land for peace approach, and each have failed. He declared that it was time to present the alternative to the two-state solution: the one-state solution. He went on to discuss the three main concerns of the plan: demographics, democracy and apartheid.
He stated that the demographic concern – that Arabs would outnumber Jews under such a plan – is a false scare tactic and anyone who looks at the numbers knows that. He pointed out that over the last decade the Arab birth rate has been falling and the Jewish birth rate has been rising. He added that many demographic tables leave out the annual numbers of Jewish immigrants who make aliyah.

J Street remains Anti-Israel - Olmert Keynote Speaker

JTA reports that Ehud Olmert, the former Israeli prime minister who was a key figure in the removal of close to 10,000 Jews from their homes in Gaza, and then blundered the Second Lebanon War, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the annual J Street conference.
Olmert will speak at the pro-Palestinian state group’s gala dinner on March 26, according to an invitation sent Thursday morning to members of the US Congress. JTA obtained an invitation, and a J Street official confirmed its authenticity.
As of early Friday morning, the J Street website has made no mention of Olmert’s participation in the event, to be held in the Washington DC Convention Center from March 24-27 .
Olmert, who was forced to step down as prime minister in 2008 to face criminal investigations, is still facing corruption trials in Israeli court. But corrupt or not, J Street has found the one Israeli ‘right-wing’ politician (Olmert started his political career in the Likud Party) with whom it has a true understanding.
Although J Street describes itself as a pro-Israel organization that supports peace between Israel and its neighbors, many Israelis and US Jews, including many public figures, have said that J Street is anti-Israel, particularly in relation to the security challenges facing the Jewish state. Several US Jewish leaders have objected to J Street’s position on Israel, and have publicly disassociated themselves from the organization.
J Street has had tense relations with Olmert’s replacement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose government has sought to marginalize the group for failing to support Israel’s efforts to push back against investigations of Israel’s conduct in the 2009 Gaza war, and for equivocating on Iran sanctions until late 2009.

As Megillah Story Unfolds Anew, the Times Publishes Op-Ed by Modern-Day Mordechai

It’s difficult for a religious person to observe from a strictly secular and factual point of view the emerging conflict between Israel and US over Iran’s nuclear program, a conflict which is about to reach its peak with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to President Barack Obama Monday.
That the meeting is to take place in the week of Purim, our national commemoration of an attempt – some 2500 years ago – on the part of a Persian prime minister, to annihilate the Jewish nation, has not escaped, I’m sure, the attention of many shul rabbis, who took the opportunity this past Shabbat to make the obvious connection for their flock – as if they hadn’t figured it out by themselves.
So who are the Megillah characters in this round? We definitely have our Hamman in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. King Achashverosh should be President Barack Obama. Benjamin Netanyahu is more Esther than Mordechai, given his direct dealings with the ruler of the free world. What we’re missing is an obvious Mordechai, that stubborn, unrelenting, proud and morally upright man of state, whose wisdom and reassurance would guide our modern-day Esther through the maze of Washington politics.

Alan Dershowitz: Media Matters Hurts Obama

It’s the kind of anti-Jewish hate speech you’d expect to find on a neo Nazi website or in a Patrick Buchanan column: American Jews who support current Israeli policies are accused of dual loyalty and called “Israel Firsters” because they place their loyalty to Israel above their loyalty to the United States.

AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) fares even worse:
“saying AIPAC is guilty of dual loyalty is giving it credit for one more loyalty that it holds.”
In other words, this widely respected American organization, and the hundreds of thousands of Jews (and Christians) who support it, including senators, congressmen and other elected officials, have absolutely no loyalty to our nation; their sole loyalty is to the foreign nation of Israel.

This false accusation of disloyalty to their own country finds its roots in the Biblical villains Pharaoh and Hamen who accused the Jews of Egypt and Persia of disloyalty. It was a central tenet of Nazism, Stalinism and other anti-Semitic regimes that made the Jews pay lethal consequences for their alleged dual loyalty.

Today, it is the mantra of David Duke, Patrick Buchanan, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Jew haters of every race, religion, and national origin.

In fact I first came across some of these hateful quotes about “Israel firsters” and “dual loyalty” on an actual neo-Nazi website called Reporters Notebook, which features Holocaust denial claptrap and anything that demonizes Israel and those who support the Jewish state.  Surprisingly, however, the quotes were attributed, not to the usual suspects, but to a spokesman for Media Matters, a hard left Democratic media attack and watchdog group, with close connections to the Obama White House, that started out as an antidote to Fox News, but has now turned much of its attention to Israel.  The author of these hateful quotes is MJ Rosenberg, who is the Senior Foreign Policy Fellow of Media Matters and its official voice on issues relating to the Middle East and Israel.  Speaking at a symposium (with Stephen Walt, the author of The Israel Lobby), Rosenberg explained why Media Matters hired him:

“Until I got there [Media Matters] had nothing on foreign policy. They hired me specifically to be involved with this issue, with the Palestinian issue, with [the issue of] stopping the war with Iran.”

And Rosenberg has become involved with a vengeance, using as his primary weapon the poisonous charge of “Israel firsters” and dual loyalty.
Let there be no doubt that Rosenberg’s accusation of dual or singular loyalty to a foreign country is an anti-Semitic canard historically reserved for Jews. Rosenberg doesn’t accuse Arab Americans who support Hamas and Hezbollah—America’s sworn enemies– of being “Palestinian Firsters”.

Nor did he accuse Irish Americans who supported the Sinn Fein of being “Irish Firsters”.

And the bad old days when observant Catholics were accused of dual loyalty with regard to the Vatican are, thankfully, long past.

But Rosenberg defends his charges of disloyalty to America against those who sincerely believe that it is in America’s interest to support Israel against threats from Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and other enemies of both nations.  Indeed, he boasts of having “popularized” the term “Israel Firsters.”

In addition to demonizing supporter’s of Israeli policies as Israel Firsters, Rosenberg has espoused numerous hateful positions regarding Israel that are in direct conflict with the way President Obama presents himself and his administration to the pro-Israel community.  He has called Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu, whose brother was killed by terrorists, a “terrorist,” and Israel’s peace-loving President Shimon Peres, an “uberhawk on Iran” who has “undermined” President Obama.  He has denied that Ahmadinejad has ever threatened to wipe Israel off the map, suggesting it was a mistranslation, despite Iranian Revolutionary Guard posters in English demanding “Israel should be wiped out of the face of the world.”  He had criticized those who call for punishing sanctions against Iran and has claimed that “if Iran gets the bomb, we are fully capable of containing a nuclear Iran…”

Rosenberg has compared the violence of weapons wielding anti-Israel activists on the Gaza flotilla with “civil rights demonstrators who sat down at segregated lunch counters through the south” and the blockade of Gaza with Jim Crow segregation.  (I don’t recall any rockets being fired at schools from Birmingham.)
And he defended Helen Thomas against charges of anti-Semitism  for saying the Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and criticized President Obama for “diss[ing] her,” calling instead for her to be “salute[d].”
It should come as no surprise therefore that Rosenberg’s hateful remarks are featured on neo-Nazi hate sites, along with those of David Duke and Patrick Buchanan.

Media Matters is currently associated with the White House, where it has met with officials close to the president and with which it has frequent strategy calls. It is well funded by many Democratic contributors, including several prominent Jewish supporters of Israel, who are apparently unaware of Rosenberg’s rants.

Art Jones, Illinois Republican Congressional Candidate, Says Holocaust Never Happened

Arthur Jones, 64, a Lyons, IL, insurance salesman who organizes family-friendly, neo-Nazi events around Adolph Hitler's birthday, hopes to be the Republican candidate chosen to run against Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski in Illinois' 3rd Congressional District.
"As far as I'm concerned, the Holocaust is nothing more than an international extortion racket by the Jews," Jones said. "It's the blackest lie in history. Millions of dollars are being made by Jews telling this tale of woe and misfortune in books, movies, plays and TV."
